Improving leadership skills can give you a competitive edge. Leadership is not just something used in extraordinary circumstances by exceptional people. Leadership should happen everyday in ordinary situations. Any time people interact there is an opportunity for leadership, whether you're running errands or running a company.

In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they're not.

We believe that most training does not deliver results.

There's a reason we don't accredit our programmes with ILM or others. Once upon a time all our programmes did have ILM accreditation but we let them expire. We found that the accreditation didn't actually make any difference to the results our clients got.

According to one of our clients:

We've done some ILM leadership training before. It was very theory based, it was run by a tutor, who knew the content of the course but wasn't particularly inspiring, in fact it was quite boring. There was loads of theory, we had to write loads of essays, it was a massive amount of work and very few results. We learnt loads of theories about leadership and management, which was good, but didn't really get any practical ways of solving the problems that we were facing. We came out with a certificate, which really didn't mean anything.

If you want to get results from a course then you can't just expect it to happen by magic any more than you can get fit by just buying a gym membership. You actually have to go to the gym and do the work.

As Derek Sivers says:

If knowledge was enough we'd all be billionaires with perfect bodies.

There are training companies out there (dare I say the majority of training companies?) that will gladly take your company’s money and give you a nice certificate and some CPD points and tick you off as completed. But we believe you need to take action in the real world for things to change, not just sit in a training room.

That's why our porgammes are designed from the beginning to get participants to take action and make a real difference.
